Think Globally, Act Locally

Join our "Recognize a Local Hero" Project

Never has the old saying “Think Global, Act Local” been more apropos.  The world is suffering.  We can’t save the world.  But we can help our local area.

I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.

What can we do?  We can do big things in a very small way in our own sphere of influence – and maybe serve as a model to help others realize what they can do.

  1. We can recognize our local heros #RecognizeALocalHero
  2. We can patronize and promote local businesses
  3. We can organize and plan to reshape our community for the better on the other side.
  4. We can reach out and form partnerships with organizations, businesses and people that share our values.

The Alliance is doing all those things in our own small way.

You’ll be hearing more about what we are doing and what you can do – either to help in our area or to reach out in your own area.  For now please check out #RecognizeALocalHero at and participate in the West Volusia effort by either nominating a front-line worker, or by recommending a local business for us to purchase award gift certificate and feature in our social media.

If you are interested in joining the movement to Reshape West Volusia for the Better on the Other Side, please post a message on our website or facebook page. You will be surprised at the great ideas that are popping up.   Meanwhile please check out Dan Burden’s Virtual River2Sea Loop Summit Keynote on “Creating a Better Florida for All”.
