Historic Plaque Dedication and Walking Tour of Landmarks near Wrights Corner

The dedication of the historic plaque for Greater Union First Baptist Church took place at the Dr. Noble “Thin Man” Watts Amphitheatre at 10 AM on May 18. Following the dedication we walked to the Church for the plaque unveiling.

Our guided walking tour included explanation of murals, the history of James W. Wright and the Wright Building, and the Orange Baker Post 17 American Legion museum as well as the amphitheatre, terminating at the African American Museum of Arts.

At 12:00 participants are invited to enjoy the afternoon at the Florida Emancipation Day activties at the African American Museum of Arts and the Block Party at Greater Union Church.

No charge for this event but registration is required.
