Bridging Divides – DeLand Black Heritage Trail

Dear Friends of the DeLand Black Heritage Trail,

February is Black History Month.  To recognize the importance several happenings are planned. 

1:00 PM Friday Feb 16  DeLand Public Library: Bridging Divides – The DeLand Black Heritage Trail Project

12:00 PM Thursday Feb 22 247 W Voorhis Ave: (Note: This had to be postponed due to the communication outage.) Florida Humanities will be recording a podcast in the conference room at “Make Your Mark Community Coworking Space”.  If you were active in the project and would like to be interviewed please contact me. Afterwards he would like to take photos of an active street scene. If you would like to support our effort,  please assemble outside around 12:30 for photo opps.

12:00 PM  Saturday  Feb 24 outside 247 W Voorhis Ave:  Guided Walking Tour of selected Heritage Landmarks.
No charge for this event but registration is required.  

After the tour there are several events to choose from:

2:00 PM – 3:30   Stetson University Rinker Auditorium in the Lynn Business Center: Film screening of
Open Dialogues: Black Voices | Black Spaces followed by panel discussion

Until 5:00 PM 207 E. Blue Springs Ave, Orange City:    Orange City Multicultural Heritage Festival a
collaboration of different cultures to educate and learn through song, dance, food, and crafts. 
Admission is free.

Until 5:00 PM Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave. DeLand: Black Homeschoolers Community EXPO.
